SUMMARY:Lecture - Why everyone is needed
DESCRIPTION:About this lecture:\n\nGod’s love is for everyone\, and a Christian Science lecture is a perfect setting to learn about God’s love and the healing that it brings. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout James\n\nI’ve seen the healing effects of God’s love since I was a youngster\, romping through the woods around our home with my three brothers. We had our share of scrapes and bruises which were quickly healed through prayer. We didn’t get sick often\, but when we did\, we relied on Christian Science for quick healings. \nIn high school our family moved to a ranch where we had cattle\, horses\, sheep\, pigs\, chickens\, and turkeys. I graduated from college with a Bachelor’s degree in agriculture\, but realized that serving as a Christian Science healer was the best way I could serve others. So I left the ranch and took up the full-time work of helping others find healing through prayer. That was 30 years ago\, and I still love this work as much as ever. \nOver the years\, I’ve enjoyed being active in many offices in my local Church of Christ\, Scientist\, and have worked at summer camps for Christian Scientists and their friends. I’ve also shared the message of Love’s transforming power in prison settings and youth detention centers. When my four children were little\, I coached or participated in their sports programs. I’ve also found other ways to help in my community\, such as by volunteering at a neighborhood church to help cook a free breakfast for those in need. \nI love spending time with my family and I enjoy doing almost anything outdoors\, from backpacking to doing a little work on the family ranch. But my greatest joy will always be to find\, and to help others find\, a more tangible sense of God’s love for everyone and how that improves every aspect of our lives. \nJames is a member of the Christian Science Board of Lectureship and lives in Eugene\, Oregon. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n	Related

DESCRIPTION:About this lecture:\n\nWHAT: The talk will focus on universal healing precepts found in the Holy Bible\, especially in Christ Jesus’ life and teachings\, showing how they are available for anyone to understand and experience through the lens of Christian Science. \nWHY: Around the world people are looking to prayer for solutions\, safety\, and well-being. “We will explore the relationship between prayer and healing through the universal divine truth that unites us\,” says Signs. “We will talk about the practical understanding of God as ever-present love so we can make progress\, unafraid like trusting children.” \nSharing examples of healing from her own life and professional practice of Christian Science\, Ms. Signs will explain why Christian Science is both Christian and scientific\, meaning that people can prove its effectiveness for themselves\, as fully described in the book Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures\, written by the founder of the Christian Science movement\, Mary Baker Eddy. \nMs. Signs will also touch on the life of Mary Baker Eddy\, who came to understand\, confirm\, and teach what she felt was original Christian healing. Eddy herself said she was especially inspired by Jesus’ demand\, “He that believes on me\, the works that I do will he do also; and greater works than these will he do\, because I go unto my Father” (found in the Gospel of John 14:12 in the Bible). \nFor over 150 years\, people around the world have worked to follow Christ Jesus in this practice of Christianity and continue to do so today\, experiencing healings of physical ills and personal difficulties. \n\n\n\n\n\n	Related

DESCRIPTION:About this lecture:\n\nThis lecture\, or heart-to-heart sharing\, will give you an overview of Christian Science\, its key principles\, a bit of its history\, some examples of healings and some clarifications about typical misconceptions. \nI do sincerely hope that after our time together\, you’ll have enough of a basis to begin to test its ideas and bring more harmony to your own life. \nAbout Alexandre Fischer     \n\nI practiced law in France and in the United States for several years. As a litigation lawyer in France\, I used to argue cases in court and I did my best to meet my clients needs. Practicing law was not just my job\, it was a passion. In my childhood\, I read law books for pleasure and attended court hearings. To me\, being a lawyer meant precision in thinking and a desire to help others get out of trouble. \nDuring those legal years\, I got more and more interested in Christian Science. At first\, I was just impressed by its remarkable healings and resolutions. But as I dug deeper\, I found a profound spirituality. To me back then\, religion and spirituality meant accepting a system of beliefs and the letting go of discernment and critical thinking.  But the more I studied and practiced this deep spirituality\, the more I found that it was not about believing in anything. It was about exercising critical thinking in understanding spiritual concepts\, which in turn could be applied to one’s life to bring healing. \nGradually\, I gave up my law practice and became a full time Christian Science practitioner. I’m not a lawyer anymore\, but I still work to help others get out of trouble\, to get out of a sense of limitations\, to find more freedom. But the way I see it\, Christian Science is not just about feeling better or fixing problems. It’s about being willing to challenge one’s world view as entirely molecule based and soulless\, to be open to see the world as spiritually based\, and experience how this change in perspective brings inner peace and healing. It is about understanding more clearly our relationship with God\, infinite good.
